Accessibility Policy
From EUTC Wiki
We aim, under the recent Disability Discrimination Act (DDA), to make the Bedlam Theatre as accessible as possible to all.
In accordance we have taken reasonable measures to improve accessibility.
If a patron requires extra assistance, please contact a manager.
- If a patron requires assistance the same member of staff should, whenever possible, assist throughout the patron’s entire visit
- If a wheelchair user is seeing a show, ensure a manager is notified, as soon as possible, so that the necessary preparations can be made in the auditorium to accommodate them:
- seats to be removed from auditorium in order to accommodate wheelchair
- if wheelchair user is with a companion, the adjacent seat in the auditorium should be marked as reserved and a (venue) complimentary ticket is to be issued for their companion
- to record the reduced auditorium capacity one complimentary ticket should be printed for the relevant performance and marked “Wheelchair User” and held at the box office to ensure that it is not counted
- Patrons should be aware that at present the Bedlam Theatre does not offer audio described or signed performances. This is something we aim to offer in the future
- Guide dogs are permitted in the Bedlam Theatre
- Special fire procedures are in place for the evacuation of disabled patrons. Please consult the “Fire Procedure” document
